Building stronger, more resilient communities.

Updated: Jun 21

By taking action and initiating change, one has the opportunity to improve the lives of individuals within their community and make a lasting impact. Lorena Chavarria has done just that in the Austin community by combining her passion for beauty and helping those who have suffered from abuse by creating the DACS Foundation.

Lorena Chavarría is the Founder and CEO of DACS Beauty & Barber School and DACS Foundation. She is a Social Worker graduated in Mexico with extensive experience in counseling and assisting women experiencing domestic violence. In 2014, Lorena founded the first school in Austin, TX to offer a cosmetology certification program in Spanish. Her motivation stemmed from seeing the Hispanic community's desire for advancement and new opportunities, especially considering the challenges faced by those without legal status in accessing higher education or technical careers due to high costs.

The DACS Foundation is a nonprofit linked with DACS Schools focusing on offering scholarships and support to Latinas facing challenges like domestic violence, human trafficking, and school dropouts. They aim to empower these individuals through education, emotional healing, and entrepreneurship, fostering positive family dynamics and reducing delinquent behaviors.

Lorena Chavarría's initiatives stand as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and determination in building stronger, more resilient communities.
